Privacy Policy

How alimonia handles your data — in short: as little as possible ever leaves your device.

This privacy policy describes how alimonia — app and website — handles your data.

1. Data controller

The party responsible for data processing is:

Temmi Pietsch
c/o Autorenglück #23155
Albert-Einstein-Straße 47
D-02977 Hoyerswerda, Germany
Email: [email protected]

2. Core principle: local-first

alimonia is designed as a "local-first" app. All recipes, meal plans and grocery lists are initially stored exclusively on your device. Without a user account, this data never leaves your device — no transmission to our servers takes place.

3. Use without an account

If you use alimonia without an account, we don't process any personal data on our servers. There is no usage tracking, no advertising IDs, and no data is shared with third parties. When importing a recipe via URL, the app fetches the page you specify directly to read the recipe data.

4. Optional account & cloud sync

If you voluntarily create an account, the following data is processed on our self-hosted server to enable sync and shared households:

  • Account data: email address, display name, @handle, optional bio and profile picture.
  • Content data: your recipes, meal plans, grocery lists and household memberships.
  • Technical data: timestamps and identifiers required for authentication and sync.

The legal basis is the performance of the usage contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Syncing only happens while you're logged in and online.

5. Images

For imported recipes, we only store the image URL from the source page, not the image itself. For recipes and profile pictures you create yourself, images you upload are stored in our storage.

6. Hosting & Cloudflare

The website and our self-hosted server are operated by:

OVH
2 Rue Kellermann
59100 Roubaix, France

A data processing agreement (DPA) under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the provider.

We additionally use the content delivery network (CDN) of Cloudflare Germany GmbH, Rosental 7, c/o Mindspace, 80331 Munich, to increase the security and loading speed of the website. This may involve personal data (mainly your IP address) being processed in Cloudflare's server logs. A data processing agreement is also in place with Cloudflare; the legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure and fast website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

7. Cookies & server log files

The website itself does not set any cookies — there is no tracking, no analytics scripts and no advertising network. When you visit the website, our server and Cloudflare automatically record technical server log data sent by your browser (including IP address, date and time of the request, page requested, referrer, browser type). This data is used exclusively to keep the website secure and running reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is not combined with other data sources.

8. Google Fonts

This website loads its fonts (Bricolage Grotesque, Hanken Grotesk, JetBrains Mono) via Google Fonts directly from Google's servers. This transmits your IP address to Google. More information is available in Google's privacy policy.

9. Retention & deletion

You delete local data by removing the app, or from within the app. If you delete your account, your private recipes are permanently removed and your profile deleted. See the help center for deletion behavior within households.

10. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR), as well as the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Contact us at the address above.

11. Changes

We update this policy when the app, the website, or the legal situation changes. Last updated: August 2026.
